Smashed Potatoes  (Baked or Air-Fried)

How to make smashed potatoes in the oven or air fryer until wonderfully crispy outside with a fluffy, tender middle.

A simple, delicious, gluten-free, vegan appetizer or side!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Fill a saucepan with salted water and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook the potatoes for until fork-tender. Then drain the water. Also, preheat the oven to 400F/205C.

STEP 1

Transfer the drained potato to a large, greased sheet pan and use the bottom of a flat glass to smash each potato.

STEP 2

Then, brush the potatoes with oil, sprinkle with salt, and bake for 35-45 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

STEP 3

To increase the crispiness, broil the roasted smashed potatoes for a few minutes at the end.

STEP 4

Or preheat the air fryer to 380F/190C. Place the smashed potatoes in a single layer at the bottom of your lightly greased basket.

STEP 5

Cook for 15-18 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Continue this in batches of single-layer potatoes in the air fryer basket until all the potatoes are cooked.

STEP 6

Finally, optionally sprinkle the crispy potatoes with the onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper and garnish with fresh parsley. Enjoy with a drizzle of avocado pesto, too!
